Love Yourself More: A Guide to Self-Acceptance and Self-Care
Loving yourself is essential for a happy and fulfilling life. However, it's not always easy to know how to go about it. You might have heard that you need to accept your body no matter what, but how do you do that when you hate certain things about yourself? The answer, in my opinion, lies in self-care.
Let me share my story. I have PCOS, which has caused me to struggle with acne and hirsutism for as long as I can remember. It was a nightmare when I was younger, and I hated the time when summer was coming. But over time, I've learned to accept these things about myself. That doesn't mean I let my hair grow wild and free, of course not! Instead, I take care of myself by waxing and shaving regularly, and I'm not angry about it anymore.
I'm now 31 years old, and I still struggle with hormonal acne. But instead of crying about it, I've learned to accept the fact that my skin doesn't always look the way I want it to, even though I have a good skincare routine and a healthy diet. I use a CC cream or foundation every day because it makes me feel better. And I plan to do some treatments in the future, but there's no rush.
The point I'm trying to make is this: accept the things you cannot change, don't obsess over little things, and take care of yourself. How can you love yourself if you act like a victim? Don't focus on the things you don't like; focus on the things you love about yourself.
I always say that it doesn't matter what you wear; what matters is how you wear it. Confidence and attitude are everything! Each of us has hang-ups, but it's time to stop making a drama about them.
Do you hate your acne? Use some CC cream, and put a big focus on your diet and skincare. Do you think your belly is too big or your legs are too fat? Find clothes that match your body type, stop eating junk food, and add some activity to your life. If you hate your hair, go to the hairdresser for advice on what hair color or haircut suits you. And if you hate your cellulite, remember that even girls in Brazil have it and look damn attractive in tiny bikinis!
Do your best and accept the things you can't change. Work on your confidence and act like you're worth a million bucks because you are if you can only believe in that. Remember, self-love is a journey, not a destination, so be patient and kind to yourself.
